Northern Alabama Celebrates End of Drought
As heavy rain blurs the vision of the common passerby, the U.S. Drought Monitor poises to announce the conclusion of a two-year bout of dry weather in Alabama’s northern region. This month has seen almost eight inches of rain — more than the past three months combined. With ponds overflowing and water levels rising, area officials are opening the floodgates for the first time in almost two years.
