From space, the Earth appears as a simple Circle of Blue

Video by Aaron Jaffe for Circle of Blue.

Peter Gleick:
We take it completely for granted, and yet it’s a minor miracle when you think about it and the problem is we don’t think about it, we ought to every time we turn on our taps.

Geoff Dabelko:
It’s not as sexy or dramatic as some of the other things that kill people. But whether you’re dead from the end of a gun, or dead from a drink of dirty water, you’re still dead.

Peter Gleick:
We’ve failed to make basic human needs for water for everyone, and that I think is the greatest failure of the 20th century.

Brian Collins:
We need something that can reframe what we’re looking at, because if we don’t reframe what we’re looking at, we’ll continue to behave as if it’s not a problem.

Peter Gleick;
Circle of Blue is a new way of thinking about communications about water.

Alon Halevy:
Data can come as numbers, data can come as pictures, data can come as video, and I think the potential of combining these different types of data in the right way is where a lot of the power lies.

Keith Schneider:
Information is the coin of the realm. The more you know, the more you can respond with good ideas.

Alon Halevy:
So there’s a circle of data, questions, and answers, and solutions, and their impacts.

Brian Collins:
What we need to face with water needs to be seen like a massive social movement.

Karen Mullarkey:
You name the time and I will name you the image that changed the policy.

Kenny Irby:
And I think we need to think about the influence that we have, the potential influence that we have if we think about each one reaching one.

Jerry Linenger:
You go to the dark side of the earth and rivers are what light up. They look like a string of pearls because mankind needs water.

Keith Schneider:
It’s all connected to you in your house. That these issues have to be solved because sooner or later they are going to walk right up to your front door. And in America when if walks up to your front door, you pay attention.

Jennifer Turner:
We can muddle through with a lot of other pollution and environmental problems, but our children die, and it’s unforgivable.

Chip Scanlan:
You’ve got to show it to them, and if you show it to them, how could they not respond with compassion, with generosity?

THIS IS A SUBJECT THAT TOUCHES EVERYONE AROUND THE WORLD!! IT IS JUST DEPLORABLE THAT WITH TODAY’S TECHNOLOGY THAT EVERYONE ON THIS EARTH DOESN’T HAVE CLEAN WATER TO DRINK!! IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS SO SIMPLE THAT WE AS A WHOLE DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! WE IN THE UNITE STATE HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO BE THE RICHES COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, AND HAVE THE BEST!! AS WITH EUROPE, AND OTHER COUNTRIES WITH THE TECHNOLOGY,AS LONG WE HAVE IT, WE DON’T THINK ABOUT THOSE THAT DON’T!! IT IS ABOUT TIME WE ALL START THINKING AS A WHOLE, INSTEAD OF AS A SINGULARITY!! WHAT’S GOOD FOR ONE, IS GOOD FOR ALL!! IT ISN’T THAT HARD,OR EXPENSIVE,AS LONG AS WELL CARE ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM!! IT IS EASY TO FIX!!!!

Are We At The Brink Of The Sixth Mass Extinction ? By Sensei Raj of RACE THE OCEANS

One of the most precious natural resources we have and that which is life sustaining on this wonderful planet is fresh water. The freshwater biomes we have on this planet earth consist of three types: 1. Ponds & Lakes 2. Streams & Rivers and 3. Wetlands These support numerous life forms and delicate food chains crucial for our balanced existence on our planet earth.

Unfortunately, new paleontological information uncovered and supported by results from strategic studies by a few authors out of Integrative Biology Dept, UCMP show that modern extinction rates resemble a mass extinction which reinforces the vital importance of saving endangered species in order to maintain biodiversity on Earth.

This calls for effective conservation measures starting from fresh water initiatives. Our planet is one large living community with non-existent borders which are only in our human minds. Lets join hands to live collectively as our human race did before and live in harmony and enjoy the beauty of this amazing planet we live in and leave a rich legacy for the generations to come.
