Video: Kumi Naidoo on Global Day of Climate Action
Circle of Blue caught up with Kumi Naidoo, the executive director of Greenpeace International, before the major climate awareness march and rally in Copenhagen on Saturday. Joining tens of thousands of like-minded demonstrations from around the world, activists took to the streets to add pressure on negotiators to generate a comprehensive, compulsory climate treaty.
“We expect our leaders not to play poker with our children’s future and the future of our grandchildren,” Naidoo said, highlighting a special appeal to U.S. President Barack Obama. Obama will attend the conference later this week.
“Yes we can is only the first part of the slogan – yes we can, yes we must and yes we will deliver a fair, ambitious and binding treaty.”
