Aaron creates original video and multimedia reports for Circle of Blue, ranging from aerial videography in Australia’s outback to interviews with internationally known thought leaders. A graduate of Interlochen Center for the Arts and student at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, he is a winner of the Panavision Young Filmmakers Grant.

Di is a graduate student in International Relations at the China Foreign Affairs University. Previously, she studied at Renmin University in Beijing, with a major in Diplomacy, and a minor in Chinese Language and Literature. In 2009 she was an intern editor for Xinhua News Agency, and in 2010 she worked as a teaching assistant at the China Foreign Affairs University. Starting in 2011, Di is going to pursue a PhD in Politics at Durham University, United Kingdom.

Aubrey is a data analyst at Circle of Blue, highlighting the relevancy and context of the present critical water data. She has completed a BA in Chemistry at Kalamazoo College, and is currently pursuing a BSE in Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan. Jordan manages the day-to-day publishing of Circle of Blue online content. Jordan graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of General Studies with a focus on English and religion. His background includes newspaper publishing, search engine optimization, and e-commerce.
Brett Walton
Contributing Writer
Brett is a news correspondent for Circle of Blue based out of Seattle. He has an MA in Central Asian Studies from the University of Washington and a BA in English from the University of Richmond. He has worked on a NASA-affiliated research project on water data and as a member of a State Department project on climate change and water management in Central Asia. His areas of interest are transboundary management, the political economy of water and agriculture policy. When not writing, he can be found hiking in the Cascades.

Travis Miller is a Media Intern at Circle of Blue while he takes classes at the Water Studies Institute of Northwestern Michigan College. Travis grew up only steps from Lake Michigan, but it was his experience climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of the Summit on the Summit global clean water crisis documentary that inspired him to return home to study water resources engineering. He compiled the photo slideshows for the CPC series.

Jennifer has been the director of the China Environment Forum at the Woodrow Wilson Center for 11 years. Her current projects are focused on U.S.-China energy and climate cooperation, the impact of energy development on water resources in China, environmental governance in China, and pollution challenges in Lake Tai.
Peter Marsters
Program Assistant
Peter is the program assistant at the China Environment Forum. His research focuses on energy and climate issues, and he has published articles on electric cars, U.S.-China clean energy cooperation, and lake pollution issues in China. He is a 2009 graduate of Bates College where he received a degree in modern Chinese history. Additionally, his coursework has included study at East China Normal University in Shanghai and at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Zifei Yang is a research intern at the China Environment Forum and a Master’s student at the American University in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Xiamen University, Zifei has a keen interest in environmental management. Previously, she interned at the World Wildlife Fund Beijing Office and the American Association of Retired Persons, and conducted research for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Lindsey researches international climate policy for the Hills Program on Governance at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. Formerly a visiting scholar for linguistics at Xinjiang University in Urumqi, China, she also collaborated with the China Environment Forum at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars to write about water and environmental governance issues in China and Central Asia. A high honors graduate of the University of Oregon in her home state, Lindsey is currently a student at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.

Kexin Liu is a research associate at Clean Air Task Force, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing atmospheric pollution through research, advocacy, and private sector collaboration. Previously, he was a research intern for the China Environment Forum at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Kexin graduated from the University of Michigan in 2010 with a Master’s degree in public policy, following a Master’s degree in operations management from the University of Manchester in 2007. Eileen nurtures the creative ethos of Circle of Blue, from cultivating the lyrical ingredients of journalism to supporting the human factor in all aspects of our work. Eileen is a writer, director and narrator who enjoyed 13 years at Interlochen Public Radio, a National Public Radio affiliate. Her association with Circle of Blue follows many years of independent multi-media journalistic projects and a life-long love of the Great Lakes.
